So here I am… home after a long day and a long night of hanging with the girls. Well, it wasn’t quite a long day… I didn’t do much, i’m just up later than usual. Anyway, I’m home. By home I don’t mean my apartment or my temporary residence as I have a penchant for moving every six months, but my real home, my childhood home. The address I enter into “permanent address” for any job applications or forms I have to fill out.

On Sunday I’ll be embarking on a 5 hour journey to Houston. What’s in Houston you might ask? Family? The fourth largest city in the US? Rice University? Home of the Astros!? Nope. MD Anderson.

So, a few weeks ago I had a chat with my friend and I told her that I believe I had a lump. So, I went to a doctor…who sent me to get an ultrasound. So I go through the whole process with the ultrasound tech. She says she has to report to the radiologist before I can leave and that he may come talk to me, come examine me, or just tell me to go home. Well, he does the whole routine and says it doesn’t look…”typically benign”. That’s not to say it’s malignant, it just doesn’t look benign. Super. And he suggests I get a biopsy.

Well I get home and tell my parents and the first thing my mom does is schedule an evaluation with MD Anderson. I think she’s jumping the gun a bit. But it will be nice to know once and for all if this is it. Looks like I’ll go through the whole process again, this time it will include a 5 hour car ride to and fro. My friend asked if I was nervous. I told her not really…cause it could still turn out to be benign and if its not…there isn’t much I can do about it. Honestly, among all this…one of my biggest concerns is that my mom will see my tattoo.
