So sehen Sieger aus!
So, this past summer I got the awesome privilege to travel to Germany (Bavaria) and Vienna in Austria for 5 weeks. I met awesome people, saw amazing places and got to cheer along with Deutschland for the World Meisterschaft (The world cup). We got to drink and sing the victory songs gathered around projector screens in the Nuremberg town squares. It was amazing.
One of the people that came with us documented everything on a flip. Here is part of the video. I show up around 0:33. There are a couple segments of this video, but it probably won’t mean as much to you as it does me.

Slightly Awesome.
I agree that its bad most Americans don’t speak more than English, but we don’t exactly have the access to people speaking these other languages on a daily basis.
It’s not fair to label us as ignorant, or just “non-caring.” I do care, and I do study languages, but it’s impossible to learn, to be fluent without practice… practice with native or fluent speakers.

Schöner junger Sperling
Es war einmal ein Mädchen, daß Sperling heißt. Es war ein ungewöhnlicher Name. Sie wusste, weil Jedermann sagte, „Was für einen ungewohnlichen Name für ein hässliches Mädchen.“ Dennoch war sie die Lieblings Tochter ihres Vaters. Der Vater war der Herzog zu Braunschweig und Lüneberg. Ihr Vater hat zwölf Kinder und Sperling war das jüngste Kind.
Sperling liebte es, auf die Jagd und zum Fischfang mit ihrem Water zu gehen. Der Vater sagte, „Geh in den Wald ohne mich nicht!“ Aber sie ging in den Wald, wenn nicht ihr Vater war zu Hause. Sperling lief ohne einen Lärm durch den Wald. Sie sah einen großen weißen Hirsch.
Sie spannte ihren Bogen. Plötzlich sagte der Hirsch, „Schieß mich nicht an!“ Der Hirsch sah das Mädchen, „Ich kann dich schöner machen, wenn du nicht mich schieße.“ Sperling dachte, „Mein Vater würde gern diesen Hirsch an der Wand haben. Aber ich will schön sein.“ Sperling ließ ihren Bogen fallen. Plötzlich wuchs zwei Flügel von ihren Achseln. Sie verwandelte in einen Vogel. Sie flog nach Hause, aber niemand erkannte sie.
